How to use the language modules

Online modules for basic language instruction in English, Greek, Portuguese and Swedish.

Since this material is intended for use by marine science students and other workers in this field, each lesson is situated in a marine environmental context. However, because language learning is now regarded as a life-long activity, the ORION partnership has made the basic modules freely available for any interested user.

Lessons are organised into TEXT, GRAMMAR and HOMEWORK sections (clickable menus).

  1. They are not standalone units; Grammar and Homework sections can only be accessed after all the basic Text pages have been consulted by the user.
  2. All Text pages are inter-changeable in all 4 languages.
  3. Grammar and Homework sections are specific to each language.
As an aid to language learning, ORION glossary with almost 1200 terms and definitions relating to marine environmental pollution, in English, Greek, Portuguese and Swedish, is a very useful linguistic tool for marine science workers.
